Two things I'm always down for:
1. A challenge
2. Shooting with Victoria Moore
This time I got to do both all in one day!
The Micheals challenge became a big trend in the photography world when a photographer, (Jenna Martin) did a 'ugly location, pretty portraits' challenge in Lowe's hardware store. After it got a lot more attention than originally anticipated, stores like Micheals reached out on social media inviting people to come try out the same idea in their stores. Go Michaels!
Already having previous experience shooting with Victoria, I knew we would be able to create really interesting photos inside the store. Wanting to challenge myself even more than average, I decided to take out my secondary camera, a Fujifilm X-T1 with a 56mm F1.2 and use only that camera/lens combination for the duration of the shoot.
Overall, I think it was a pretty decent success! I ended up falling more in love than I could have imagined with the lens from Fuji, and Victoria and I had a lot of fun wandering around the floral section of Michaels for an hour creating images. It's a super fun way to get out of your comfort zone and a good way to get excited about the fact that in a few weeks we'll actually have some flowers outside again!!
