I’ve always been a creative, but I didn’t always know I would be a photographer.

I spent a solid chunk of my childhood in and out of different classes and sports, trying my hand at a whole bunch of hobbies and skills but not sticking to any one in particular. The only one that did seem to maintain my fixation was an art class that gave me the opportunity to experiment with a ton of mediums (think oils, acrylic, watercolour) .. again, never really niching down one one type or another, but enjoying myself all the same.

When it came time to graduate, I realized I still hadn’t made up my mind with where I would go or what I would do; why do they expect 18 year olds to know where they’re gonna end up?

I applied to Nova Scotia Community college originally thinking graphic design made sense — what’s another new medium to try? Fortunately that did not work out and I found myself in the Applied Media program, falling in love with the art of photography. It was like when you’re in math class and nothing clicks until it does. Armed with very little knowledge of how a camera worked but huge passion, I spent the following two years completing the Professional Photography program, finishing top of my class in 2017.

Not much later, in 2018 I decided to take things full time and I’ve been that way ever since! I feel incredibly lucky to be able to do something I can genuinely say I enjoy for work (If you can call going on adventures to waterfalls, hiking and hanging out with hot people work).
